Chennai Express Producer Karim Morani Charged With Rape

While all eyes were on Salman Khan and his Jodhpur sojourn, another Bollywood mover and shaker has been arrested.

Karim Morani has reportedly been taken into custody by Hyderabad Police over charges of rape.

News of the arrest was reported by ANI.


According to ANI, Hyderabad Police filed a rape case against the producer of the hit Bollywood film Chennai Express on Wednesday afternoon. No further details have been released by the police.

Associated with Rohit Shetty's 2013 hit movie, Morani is known to be a close collaborator of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Morani has also produced films like Ra.One, Yodha and Dum. He was also associated with films like Happy New Year and Dilwale.

Morani is part of the trio behind Cineyug Entertainment, a Mumbai-based production and events company.

Bollywood’s filmi galas, weddings and stage shows are incomplete without the Morani brothers – Aly, Karim and Mohammad. Amir Morani, the eldest brother has retired and is no longer a partner at Cineyug Films, which was launched in 1997.

Cineyug Films landed in rough waters when the CBI uncovered its links with Swan Telecom and Dynamix Realty, both involved in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
